Healthy employees allow WakeMed to better care for our patients and to be ready to serve our community. WakeMed offers a number of wellness and prevention programs to help our employees manage conditions, quit tobacco, eat healthy, lose weight and get active.
WakeWell Rewards
WakeWell Rewards encourages and provides incentives for WakeMed employees who take steps toward a healthier life. WakeWell Rewards is designed to build a culture of health throughout our organization by providing an annual ‘snapshot’ of your health status and connecting you with resources that are available to improve it.
Healthworks
Located in the WakeMed Health Park and at in Cary at The Health Park of Kildaire, Healthworks is a medically-based fitness center offering a broad range of exercise and educational programs. The facilities include a fitness center, walking track and locker rooms. Healthworks is open Monday through Friday to employees for membership and to community members participating in our supervised exercise programs.
Pre-Diabetes and Diabetes Education
WakeMed’s Adult Diabetes Program understands the importance of proper diabetes management, and is here to help you make healthy lifestyle decisions. Offerings include a 3.5-hour class for people at risk for diabetes (pre-diabetes) and an all-day class for those with diabetes, including recently diagnosed. Both classes are offered at no charge to employees on the WakeMed health plan. Call 919-350-7292 for more information.
One-on-One Consult with a Dietitian
WakeMed health plan participants can schedule one-on-one consultations with a WakeMed registered dietitian with no co-pay and no physician order. Consults are currently conducted at the Raleigh Campus and Cary Hospital. Call 919-350-7000 option 4 to schedule an appointment.
