CT Scan

At WakeMed Physician Practices - Urology we offer in-office CT scanning.  This provides the convenience of having diagnostic testing performed right in your doctor's office and getting the results immediately.

At CT scan may be ordered to evaluate for stones in the urinary tract, to determine the source of blood in the urine, or to detect other abnormalities.

Depending upon what type of CT scan your doctor ordered, you may have some very specific instructions to follow.  These were provided to you when you scheduled the test.  Be sure to follow them.

If your test involves intravenous contrast, you may have to have a simple blood test prior to the CT scan to make sure your kidney function is normal.
