What to Expect

The WakeMed Back & Spine Center offers a comprehensive and convenient approach to addressing your back and spine concerns. We serve as your first point of contact for both diagnosis and treatment planning. From initial evaluation and imaging to understanding the root cause of your discomfort, we prioritize a thorough assessment. Importantly, our primary focus involves exploring conservative care options, whenever possible, to help you find relief and regain your mobility — using the least invasive treatment options to help you achieve your goals.

• Your initial assessment will be conducted by a physiatry specialist whose goal is to collaborate with you to develop a regimen to help control your pain.  
• You will also receive an evaluation by a dedicated physical therapist to assess your mobility and to develop a regimen for you to use at home between physical therapy sessions.  

These conservative approaches give the body the opportunity to adjust and correct as naturally as possible without invasive procedures. 

If additional services are recommended those will be discussed during your visit. Our medical assistant and nurse navigator will help coordinate your care.
