WakeMed is proud to partner with three of our local high schools, Enloe Magnet High School Medical Bio-Science Academy, Athens Drive Magnet High School and Wake Early College of Health and Sciences. Through this partnership, health science students are able to experience the day in and day out responsibilities of medical professionals.

Health Care Careers Conference

Are you a high school student curious about pursuing a career in health care but don’t quite know where to start?

WakeMed is excited to host a health care careers conference specifically for high school students on March 14, 2025, at the Andrews Conference Center (3024 New Bern Avenue).

This one-day conference is designed to showcase the numerous and varied careers in health care. Representatives from many WakeMed departments will be present. They will provide insightful knowledge about their respective fields and hands-on learning experiences.

To be invited to this event, please have a parent sign the WakeMed consent form and email the form to WorkforceDevelopment@wakemed.org.

This session will provide an overview of how our skilled surgical teams work together to deliver high-quality patient care. We will highlight the career opportunities that exist within surgical services: surgical scrub technicians, nurses, anesthesia techs, surgeons and anesthesiologists.
