Credentialing and Orientation

WakeMed is a member of the Consortium for Clinical Education and Practice (CCEP), a collaborative between academic and clinical partners in the Wake Area Health Education Center region. We follow the CCEP recommendations, and as such require that the elements of the Passport are met, consistent with our Affiliation Agreements. The records are kept on file with the school and are periodically audited.

Annually the following must be kept on file with the school for clinical instructors and students:

• WakeMed Confidentiality Form - signed
• WakeMed Acknowledgment Form - signed
• TB Attestation Form - Always refresh CCEP webpages to see the latest version.
• The Passport Requirements* listed at https://www.wakeahec.org/hctriangeclinical.htm, including, but not limited to:
  • Consortium for Clinical Education and Practice Core Orientation* available on the CCEP website - Always refresh CCEP webpages to see the latest version.
  • WakeMed Health & Hospitals Healthcare System-Specific Student and Faculty Orientation Self-Study Program for the current school year*

*Current WakeMed employees may be exempt from some of the Passport requirements because they meet them through their employment. Current WakeMed employees must carry professional liability insurance that covers their school experiences.

Network and EPIC Access for Nursing and Nurse Aide Students:

• Clinical Coordinators: Submit the WakeMed Access Request about a month before the start of the term. Please include all students and faculty who will be at WakeMed in the next two months. The directions are on the second page of the spreadsheet. WakeMed will use it to create and/or refresh the network accounts and assign Epic training to those identified by the schools as needing it.
• WakeMed will grant Epic access within three business days after Epic training is complete.
