We also offer a full complement of surgeries and procedures to correct nasal obstruction to improve breathing, snoring, and appearance, including rhinoplasty, septorhinoplasty, sinus and polyp problems. Often, these treatments can that can help improve the look and function of your nose.
Facial Plastic Surgery
At WakeMed ENT, we provide a comprehensive range of facial plastic services for patients who have sustained trauma. We treat both pediatric and adult patients. We are highly skilled in meticulous repair of facial skin, muscle, bone, loss of flesh, and other complex injuries. We use specialized techniques to minimize scarring, and have sedation and general anesthesia capabilities.
Facial Trauma Repair
Our providers are experts in repairing facial fractures of all kinds. The human skull has 14 facial bones, and eight cranial bones. Each fracture is meticulously analyzed, planned, and repaired to maximize functional recovery and optimize the patient’s appearance.
We are skilled in managing and repairing mandible (jaw) fractures, midface (midsection of the face, which includes fractures of upper jaw, cheeks, nose) fractures, and orbital fractures (including eye socket, orbital rim and floor fractures, as well as complex naso-orbito-ethmoid fractures). We also treat fractures of the frontal sinus, with our without other complex facial and skull lacerations, using both open and endoscopic approaches. When needed, we have the capability of combining our efforts with our colleagues in neurosurgery, oculoplastic, dentistry and oral-maxillofacial surgery. We understand the role the facial bones play in the structure and function of the face, and their impact on vision, eating, breathing, and appearance.
Scar Revision
We also offer scar revision services, for wounds both old and new. Scars often form after trauma or burns to skin, and are how the human body often heals lost or damaged skin. Our procedures can help improve appearance of the scars, and also render the skin softer and more elastic, reducing pain and discomfort. We routinely treat post-traumatic scars, as well as keloid and hypertrophic scars. We have strategies ranging from minimally to maxillary invasive: we employ techniques ranging from topical creams and ointments, silicone sheeting, injectable treatments, dermabrasion, and even complex surgical scar revision and local flaps.
